Type Locality and Naming

By the Tuzkoy uplift, Central Kyzylkum. I.M. Abdazimova, E.M. Shvets, 1987 (27, pp. 54-57).

Synonym: Tuzkoy Suite, Тузкойская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Marine and coastal-marine gray sandstones and conglomerates. Thickness 3-26 m

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies with erosion on the Paleozoic

Upper contact

It is overlain transgressively by the Kalaatin Fm

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, foothills of Kuljuktau and Auminzatau. Stratotype on the southern slope of the Tuzkoy uplift, western end of the Kuljuktau mountains, 5 km west of the Kalaata settlement.

Fossils

Contains marine bivalve mollusks - Vnigriella angulatostriata albensis Nik., Liostrea leymerri Desh, Amphidonte arduennensis zeravschanica Muzaph., gastropods - Paraglauconia dimorpha Dzhal.; brachiopods - Eudesia tekedgikenica Smirn., Praelongithyris dutempleana (Orb.), Cyclothyris cf. polygona (Orb.).


Age 

It belongs to the middle Aptian and lower upper Aptian (A. nolani zone).
